NBC is reviving its must-see-TV classic for 12 new episodes this fall. Everyone remembers the basics: best friends Will, a gay man, and Grace, a straight woman, live and love in Manhattan with their quirkier friends Jack and Karen. The show's main pairing was directly inspired by a real-life twosome: Max Mutchnick, one of the show's executive producers, and his childhood friend Janet Eisenberg. Mutchnick and Eisenberg dated in real life, and then became close friends after Mutchnick revealed he was gay. Sound familiar?
Despite initial criticism for its stereotypical portrayal of homosexual characters, it went on to become a staple of NBC's Must See TV Thursday night lineup and was met with continued critical acclaim. It was ensconced in the Nielsen top 20 for half of its — network run. The show was the highest-rated sitcom among adults 18—49 from to Each main actor received an Emmy Award throughout the series. In the Writers Guild of America placed the sitcom at number 94 in their list of the best-written TV series of all time. Vice President Joe Biden commenting that the show "probably did more to educate the American public" on LGBT issues "than almost anything anybody has ever done so far".
At its close, 18 million viewers tuned in to the finale to say goodbye. While the cast had a hard time bidding farewell too, some felt the break was necessary after eight straight years on the TV treadmill. When the reunion episode became such a smash, NBC gave a green light to the full series—which has already been renewed for an additional season. And Roseanne will be back on ABC in It never happened.
While the character he plays is louder-than-life and the embodiment of living a proud life, Hayes struggled with coming to terms with his sexuality, even down to his early interests in theatre., Sean Patrick Hayes  born June 26,  is an American actor, comedian, singer and producer. Hayes was born in Chicago, the youngest child of five of Mary Hayes , the director of a non-profit food bank called the Northern Illinois Food Bank,    and Ronald Hayes, a lithographer.
