Focusing on these two scriptural witnesses, the Church has recently produced a new millimeter film, The Testaments of One Fold and One Shepherd. The film presents the message that Jesus Christ is our Savior and the cornerstone of our theology. Though the New World characters and their dialogue are fictional, they capture the essence of the feelings and testimonies of the people described in the Book of Mormon. Some of us are like the fictional Helam, who even in the face of great opposition never loses his faith in Christ. Our souls rejoice in the truth that He is the Christ, the Savior of the world, and that through Him all mankind may be saved.

Most of the film deals with fictional characters who are supposed to be descendants of Lehi, a prophet who traveled with his family across the ocean to escape the destruction of Jerusalem in B. According to the narrative in the Book of Mormon , the descendants of Lehi eventually became known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. Such a conclusion overlooks the overwhelming evidence that demonstrates how God had all along planned to engraft the Gentiles into His plan of salvation. The fact that no archaeological evidence has been found to support the notion that a great population of Nephites and Lamanites existed also compels us to discount the conclusion that John speaks of the people in the Book of Mormon. To this date, no New World locations have ever been found, and no Nephite artifacts grace the LDS museum of history across the street from Temple Square.

The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd

The Testaments is used to promote a very basic premise of the Book of Mormon, viz. LDS find Christ's statement to this effect in John I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. But most New Testament scholars take this to be a reference to Christ's impending ministry to the Gentiles after His resurrection, of which the peoples in America certainly wouldn't qualify since, according to the Book of Mormon as well as the film, they were of the same fold as the rest of the Israelites. This film is primarily a fictitious story set somewhere in the Western Hemisphere concurrently around the earthly life of Jesus of Nazareth.

This film depicts events from the life and ministry of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. The story culminates with a portrayal of the resurrected Savior's visit to the ancient Americas as seen through the eyes of a fictional family. We have traditional, leather-bound, journal-edition, large print, unindexed, foreign language, pocket sizes and more. Engraving and free ship to store is available. I had an investigator and a newly baptized member in to my house and the missionaries showed this video to them. I loved it! Not only was it taken from 3 Nephi 11, which was the first part of the Book of Mormon, which, when first reading it, reduced me to tears, but it is gorgeous visually.

Testaments depicts the life of Jesus in Jerusalem while also depicting the events described in the Book of Mormon from approximately the same time period. The film's climax occurs after Christ's resurrection , when Jesus appears in the Americas. In ancient America, Helam witnesses the star heralding the birth of Christ, and 33 years later he faithfully awaits the promised coming of the Messiah despite persecution for this belief. Helam's son, Jacob, is interested more in the ways of the world, including the lovely Laneah, and when his abilities as an artisan bring an offer to work for the wealthy and powerful Kohor, he jumps at the chance and is estranged from his father's house. In contrast, Amaron, a holy man, preaches to people of Christ, whose ministry and miracles are concurrently taking place across the seas in The Holy Land. As Jacob becomes more immersed in the secular life of Kohor's house, Laneah becomes more interested in the humble faith he is forsaking.
